The 8th annual Open Eco Homes Event will take place on Sunday 8th October & Saturday 14th October. Highlights include the Tree House, an award-winning new-build by German eco-constructors Baufritz, and a special extended two house tour, combining visits to a large 1920s house undergoing a long term retrofit and an architecturally unique neighbouring new-build, including features such as Retrovive suspended underfloor insulation, rammed earth wall, passive and pre-heat ventilation.
In total 12 low energy homes – both new and retrofit – will open their doors for Open Eco Homes. Householders will show and explain the energy-saving features of their homes – the pros and cons, and also how to get the best out of them. Visitors find out how to make their homes cosier whilst saving energy and carbon emissions.
Booking is required and will open in September. Each tour is free and lasts about an hour.
